Introduction
How fast time passes by! We have not been updating on a regulary basis with news since autumn 2007. Sorry for this, as we have registred alot of access to our website and very few updates could be found. It has been such a busy year and we had to prioritize our time. So here a summary of news in 2007/2008 hoping to make it up to our faithfull readers. As many readers are accessing from outside Denmark we have decided to continue our updates in english only.
Kennel Arddun national and international
In the summer 2007 kennel Arddun moved from the Copenhagen area to the country side, to gain more space and better surroundings for our dogs.
Further more we now have a residence in Holland as well for a period of at least 4 years. We have dogs on both danish and dutch site.
New dogs at Kennel Arddun
In November 2007 we went to Italy to get our new baby girl. We have been on waiting list for her for almost 4 years, and finally our little princess was there. We stayed the night in what I hereafter will refer to as paradise, and had the change to evaluate the whole litter. I most say it was the best quality litter I have seen. Our princess was just wonderfull and we had no doubt she was going with us home. But also a pair of wonderfull almond shaped eyes was following us very closely. And I could not get this little guy out of my mind. So on the way back home to Denmark, we decide in the minute we left Italy, that we had to return to get the little prince as well.
However we needed to get all papers done so it had to wait to christmas before we could get him home. The 21December he entered Denmark. We have never seen so much happyness between sister and brother before. They were completely excited and were playing around for hours when he entered our home. And they are still playing, and being cloose together all the time.
We have been looking around for a quality bitch in the colour red for a long time. In some way or another this has never materialized. But everything holds a purpose, according to our philosophy. The 10 january another quality litter was born and our Cara came to us in April 2008.
So in our residences we have now 8 dogs, all well socialized and very happy with each other.
The dutch welsh corgi cardigan Club
As we have been complying to the dutch kennel Clubs and cardigan Clubs breeding rules and restrictions, we were invited to join the club as members and registred as breeders in Holland. We are very proud of this membership as this is our quality stamp to our puppy buyers that we obay the rules and breeding restrictions that exceeds the danish kennel club and danish welsh corgi club.
Holidays
For the first time in many years we decided to go abroad for a holiday without dogs. Well almost. Because we had choosen hosts that had pleanty to share with us :-)
First we went down to Italy for an expanded week, just being in Paradise.
After this we went back to Holland for a few days. And then of we went for Wales.
We had the best summerholiday ever, bringing good weather to both Italy and Wales. We have been sitting in the garden in Wales up to 2 a:m in lovely weather. We had more than 1 week in Wales in wonderfull sunshine, amazing.
Exhibitions
We have in 2008 attended 1 exhibition in Dk and 2 in Sweden, 1 in germany, 1 in Belgium, and 2 in Holland. We went to the annual big event Crufts 2008 but we did not bring any qualified dogs. In 2008 our little guy with almond shaped eyes qualified for Crufts in Amsterdam, and we expect to show him at Crufts 2010, and in this way selebrating that we have been Cardigan Corgies breeder for 10 years.
Herding
We have been very inactive regarding herding in 2008. As yet another puppie from kennel Arddun had been diagnozed with severe HD, we have waited to start training until we have xrayed all the dogs. As some of them are far to young for xray and for a permanent result we have postponed the starting point for the herding training. As soon as we have final results we will start training again with the dogs that are HD free.
HD ( Hip displasia)
We continue our work to improve our breeeding regarding inherited diseases. It is with big sorrow that we have been told that one more pup from kennel Arddun is suffering from severe HD. We will recomment anybody with a corgi to get the dog xrayed before they start training as agility or herding. This latest event supports even more our decision to follow the Dutch kennel clubs breeding restrictions as registrered breeder in the Dutch Corgi Cardigan club. Today our household and breeding is based on dogs from other kennels and we hope by our xray program to be able to establish our future breeding from HD free Arddun Corgi Cardigans. |
